Backyard Wonderland: Creating a Kids Play Space In Your Backyard

Having children made me look at my home's backyard from a whole new perspective. As my little ones started walking, I began to see how I could turn my backyard into a playground that was safe and secure for them to play. After spending a lot of time researching the safety and stability of the play structures and materials that were out there, I built a play area that's secure and fun for my kids. I created this site to share all of the ideas that I had as well as some other things I've found over the years to help other parents create the perfect play space to bring the family together at home.

Are Your Windows Showing Signs Of Age And Inefficiency? Make These Changes Today

Window replacement for an entire home is a big investment, but if you feel like your windows aren't doing their job, it's time to get a quote. If you feel a breeze when you walk by your windows, or if you know that sound is traveling too easily from the outside to the interior of your home, window replacement is a must.

If sound can get in the home then that usually means rain, snow, and even pests can get inside as well. Here are a few things to look for that indicate it's time for new windows.

Thin Glass

The thickness of the glass and the position of the glass in the window frame are concerns when it comes to efficiency. Talk with the window installation company about:

These are all qualities that you want to have so that the windows are helping to lower your heating and cooling expenses each month.

Weak and Warped Frames

Over time wood can be susceptible to a lot of weathering and wear. If the wood window frames look compromised, they could be:

  • Warped
  • Shifted from house settling or foundation movement
  • Rotted from moisture
  • Soft from moisture
  • Brittle and cracking

If you notice any of these things, then the windows are not doing what they need to keep the weather temperatures outside, and the windows are letting the air inside your home out.

Poor Insulation

Insulation will break down over time. If you are investing the time to have new windows installed around your home, you don't want to miss out on the opportunity to have new insulation spread as well. Ask the window contractor if they can put a polyurethane foam spray insulation in around the new window boxes, or if you will need to have an insulation professional do that work at the time of construction.

With new windows, new window frames, and new insulation for the home around the windows, you're going to have a much more efficient home. Your heating and cooling bills are going to decrease, and you're going to feel confident that everything outside of the home will stay outside.

Get quotes from different window installation companies so you can compare the costs and the installation options. From there don't waste any more time leaving your home vulnerable with weakened inefficient windows.
