Backyard Wonderland: Creating a Kids Play Space In Your Backyard

Having children made me look at my home's backyard from a whole new perspective. As my little ones started walking, I began to see how I could turn my backyard into a playground that was safe and secure for them to play. After spending a lot of time researching the safety and stability of the play structures and materials that were out there, I built a play area that's secure and fun for my kids. I created this site to share all of the ideas that I had as well as some other things I've found over the years to help other parents create the perfect play space to bring the family together at home.

Why To Choose A Colored House Number

If you've recently decided that you want to change the house number that you have mounted to the front of your residence, a visit to a local home supply store will give you all sorts of options. Backlit house numbers can catch your eye and you may decide to upgrade your existing number with this bright product. While many homeowners choose house numbers that have a white or yellowish glow, there are other options that may be appealing to you. Colored house numbers are also available, with hues such as blue, green, red, and more. Here are some reasons to choose a colored house number.

It Can Complement Your Home's Exterior

It can be fun to browse the available colors and find one that will complement one or more elements on the exterior of your home. For example, if your home has blue window shutters, choosing a blue backlit house number can tie in well. Even at night, the shutters will likely be visible due to light from the streetlights or even your porch light, so the connection between the two elements will be evident. You'll likely appreciate how this color match adds a visual quality to your home from the curb.

It Can Stand Out More

While a house number with a white light will certainly stand out more than a house number that doesn't contain a light, you may find that a colored light is the most visible of any of these options. As a homeowner, you want your house's address to be quickly identifiable in the event of an emergency. However, you may appreciate the visibility of a colored number even in non-emergency situations. New friends who are visiting you for the first time, for example, may be able to spot your number more easily when it's a bright color.

It Can Tie Into Different Topics

You also have the ability to choose a colored house number that ties into a topic that is relevant to you. For example, if you're of Irish descent, you might favor a green house number because of the association between this color and the country of Ireland. Or, if you're a passionate supporter of a college or professional sports team in your local area, you might buy a house number that is the same color as the team's logo or uniforms. Visit a home supply store to look at a selection of backlit house numbers, including those that offer vibrant colors.
