Backyard Wonderland: Creating a Kids Play Space In Your Backyard

Having children made me look at my home's backyard from a whole new perspective. As my little ones started walking, I began to see how I could turn my backyard into a playground that was safe and secure for them to play. After spending a lot of time researching the safety and stability of the play structures and materials that were out there, I built a play area that's secure and fun for my kids. I created this site to share all of the ideas that I had as well as some other things I've found over the years to help other parents create the perfect play space to bring the family together at home.

4 Questions About Getting New Vinyl Windows

Have you decided to get new vinyl windows installed in your home? If so, you likely have several questions about the installation process and the material.

Will The Installation Process Create A Mess In Your Home?

You shouldn't have to worry about any mess being made in your home when having vinyl windows installed. The installers will do the majority of the work from the outside, and they'll likely place plastic over the window on the inside to prevent dust from getting in. You may be surprised at how little dust and debris actually gets in your home when the job is finished.

Do Vinyl Windows Require Maintenance?

One of the reasons that many homeowners get vinyl windows over their wood counterpart is due to the lack of maintenance that is needed to keep the windows in great shape. The most that you'll have to do to maintain vinyl windows is to clean the material when it is dirty. Unlike wood, the surface doesn't need to be sanded, stained, or painted to keep the material in great shape.

Is it Worth It To Upgrade To Triple-Pane Glass?

It is pretty much standard these days to get double-pane glass with new windows, which keeps a layer of argon gas between the glass panes to help with insulation. However, there is also an option for triple-pane glass that you may be curious about. While this option provides more insulation, it does come at a price that may not be within your budget when replacing all of the windows in your home.

One thing to consider is that triple-pane glass does an excellent job of blocking sound from outside your home. If you live on a main road that is very busy, triple-pane glass can help reduce the noise you hear from the outside of your home on a daily basis.

Are There Ways To Make Vinyl Windows More Energy-Efficient?

Your window contractor may offer several other upgrades that will also improve the energy efficiency of your vinyl windows. There is a special low-e glass that can help reduce the amount of heat that transfers into your home, and there are window tints that reduce how much light comes in. It's definitely worth considering adding these features to certain windows that see direct exposure to sunlight during the day.
