Stainless Steel Cabinets - One really good way to establish a contemporary feeling in your new kitchen is to select stainless steel cabinets. Besides being gorgeous, stainless steel cabinets will be very easy to clean. You'll just need to make sure you don't leave streaks when you clean them. First, go over them with a damp rag, and then dry them with a regular kitchen towel. If the cabinets are greasy, use a gentle cleanser on them, and they'll look like new.
Maybe you want unique knobs on the stainless cabinets. If so, think of buying a metal rabbit design or selecting sea stones for the cabinet knobs. Another idea is to select brass doorknobs, which will give some contrast to the design. If you want to keep the total stainless look, choose polished nickel or chrome doorknobs.
Think of the inside of the cabinets, too. For example, if you do a lot of baking, you might want vertical sections in the cabinets so that you can easily store things like cookie sheets. If you have extra-large cookware, say a pan that is suitable for baking a turkey, or a large crockpot, then select cabinets that have some space for those large items. Perhaps you'd like at least one turntable and some pull out drawers as part of the cabinet design.

Select The Other Decor - Consider selecting metal for your kitchen table and chairs. Or, if you want some contrast, buy a kitchen table and chairs that have very sleek, simple lines as the design. One idea is to choose a red table. Still stick with the metal chairs to go with the red table, just to keep the modern look you want.
Buy contemporary art for your kitchen, too. For instance, frame black and white photographs or posters in contemporary frames. If you selected a red table, choose red plastic frames for the artwork.
