Backyard Wonderland: Creating a Kids Play Space In Your Backyard

Having children made me look at my home's backyard from a whole new perspective. As my little ones started walking, I began to see how I could turn my backyard into a playground that was safe and secure for them to play. After spending a lot of time researching the safety and stability of the play structures and materials that were out there, I built a play area that's secure and fun for my kids. I created this site to share all of the ideas that I had as well as some other things I've found over the years to help other parents create the perfect play space to bring the family together at home.

Decorate For An Outdoor Barbecue That Will Be Held Inside Of Your Gazebo And Provide Your Guests With Comfort

If you plan on hosting an outdoor barbecue inside of your gazebo in the near future, the following tips will assist with decorating for the event and providing your guests with a comfortable and festive area to enjoy their meal.

Materials

  • lantern poles
  • lanterns
  • hooks
  • power drill
  • paper lanterns
  • battery-operated LED lights
  • serving cart
  • dinnerware
  • utensils
  • cooler
  • ice
  • picnic table
  • place settings
  • lounge chairs
  • small tables
  • stereo system

Install Lighting In And Around The Gazebo

Purchase several lantern poles and outdoor lanterns for sale. Select lanterns that contain a unique pattern or that are made with colorful glass. Insert the end of each pole in a portion of the ground that is close to the gazebo. Press the tip of each pole several inches into the ground so that all of the poles are stabilized. If you would like to increase lighting inside of the gazebo, use a drill to install hooks and hang a paper lantern from each one.

Attach a battery-operated LED light to each paper lantern's frame. During the social gathering, turn on each light when it begins to get dark outside so that you and your guests will be able to see each other while enjoying the food that you have prepared.

Provide Dinnerware, Utensils And A Dining Area

Bring a serving cart outdoors and place it inside of the gazebo. Arrange dinnerware, utensils, and a cooler that is filled with ice on the cart. Set a picnic table up along one side of the gazebo's interior. Use place settings to designate a seating spot for each person who will be attending the barbecue. After your guests have finished their meals, they will be able to place their dinnerware and silverware on the cart so that the items can conveniently be transported back inside of your home.

Create An Area To Relax After Dinner

Create an area for your guests to relax after dinner by setting up lounge chairs and small tables on the opposite side of the gazebo's interior. Place a portable stereo system on one of the tables. You and your guests will be able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while holding light hearted conversations with one another. Play soft music on the stereo system to help you and your guests relax while laying back the chairs.

If the barbecue is a hit with everyone, utilize all of the tips again for upcoming events that will be held outdoors on your property.
